USE AND APPLICATION
For best results apply CheckMateŽ CM-XL1000 early in the season, as soon as the first codling moth is detected by a BioLureŽ CM pheromone trap (biofix) or by field scouting. BioLure traps must be placed in the orchard early enough to detect the first moths emerging from overwintering. When the first moth is detected, apply CheckMate CM-XL1000 dispensers at the rate of 200 per acre. Place dispensers within three feet of the top of the tree. Ensure that dispensers are evenly and uniformly distributed throughout the block. Place BioLure CM monitoring traps before placing CheckMate CM-XL1000 dispensers. Wash hands when done placing dispensers, traps or lures. Do not handle other types of pheromone lures or dispensers before or after placement without thoroughly washing hands. This product only affects adult male moths and will have no effect on female moths, eggs or larvae. If application occurs following biofix or during the growing season, the orchard must be treated with insecticide treatments that will effectively control hatching larvae until egg laying by previously mated female moths has ceased to occur. In moderate to high insect pressure situations, supplemental insecticide applications during the season may be necessary to provide adequate protection to developing fruit. These supplemental insecticide applications should be made based on trap monitoring, field scouting, and appropriate degree-day models for the local growing area and must be timed to control emerging larvae. Manage migration from adjacent orchards, alternate sites or hosts with border sprays and monitoring. Monitor orchards carefully for secondary insect pests such as leafrollers. |
