USE AND APPLICATION

Make the first application of CheckMateŽ TPW early in the season, after detection of the first tomato pinworm moth with a pheromone trap, such as BioLureŽ. In all cases, make the first application no later than two weeks after transplanting tomato seedlings or within 30 days after direct seeding of tomatoes. Apply 200 dispensers per acre. Apply one dispenser by hand to plants, support poles or wires every 15 feet (4.5 meters). Place dispensers at or near the top of the plants or 3 to 4.5 feet (1 to 1.5 meters) above the ground. Best results occur when dispensers are evenly distributed throughout the field. Place BioLure TPW monitoring traps in the field before using CheckMate TPW. Monitor insect infestation with traps and by visual inspection of leaves and fruit. Early placement of BioLure monitoring traps at a rate of one trap for every ten acres is recommended along with careful field scouting. CheckMate TPW is best used to control low populations of tomato pinworm and prevent their increase. High tomato pinworm population levels may require supplemental insect control measures.
