Planococcus ficus

  • Planococcus ficus

The vine mealybug (Planococcus ficus) is an economic threat to grapevine growers. Female and juvenile vine mealybugs harm the vines by sucking out fluids and releasing large amounts of a sugary thick secretion that depreciates the value of grape crops at harvest time. It is established in many grapevine growing regions including the Mediterranean, Middle East, Pakistan, South Africa, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Mexico and California.
